1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Index Informatics Systems Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information for users of the Index Cloud solar monitoring platform, available as a mobile app and at indexinformatics.in (the "Service").

Index Cloud lets solar plant owners, dealers, installers, and manufacturers monitor inverter performance, energy production, alerts, and historical analytics. Using the Service signifies your acceptance of this Policy.

2. Scope

This Policy covers the Index Cloud mobile application (Android & iOS) and the web dashboard accessed from solar-plant management portals. It does not cover the separate Index Care service-management application, which has its own privacy policy.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Account information

  • Name, phone number, email, role (customer / dealer / manufacturer), dealer code.
  • Hashed password (we never store plain-text passwords).

3.2 Plant & inverter data

  • Inverter serial numbers, model, plant name, installation address (text only).
  • Real-time and historical performance metrics: power output, voltage, current, energy generated (daily / monthly / yearly / total), temperatures, fault codes.
  • Inverter parameters that you configure through the Service.

3.3 Optional location (web only)

When you create a new plant through the web dashboard, you may optionally enter a plant address. The Index Cloud mobile app does not collect device GPS location.

3.4 Technical & usage data

  • Device model, OS version, app version, IP address.
  • Login timestamps, dashboard interactions, error/crash logs.

4. How We Use Your Information

  • Authenticate users and authorise access to the correct plants.
  • Display real-time and historical solar production analytics.
  • Notify you of inverter faults, low-production alerts, or grid issues.
  • Provide dealer/manufacturer dashboards showing customers under their network.
  • Improve product features, fix bugs, and conduct aggregated analysis.
  • Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.

5. Sharing & Disclosure

  • Within your dealer hierarchy — the dealer or manufacturer who installed your system can view production data for customer support purposes. They cannot access your password.
  • Service providers — secure cloud hosting, SMS/OTP delivery, push notifications. All are bound by confidentiality and data-protection terms.
  • Legal compliance — when required by court order, subpoena, or Indian law.
  • Business transfer — in case of merger, acquisition, or asset sale, data may transfer under the same Policy protections.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to advertisers or data brokers.

6. Data Security

All connections use HTTPS/TLS. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Production databases are access-controlled and protected by multi-factor authentication. Inverter telemetry is signed at the device level to prevent tampering.

While we apply industry-standard safeguards, no system is 100% secure. Please report suspected breaches to support@indexinformatics.com.

7. Data Retention

  • Account data: while your account is active.
  • Plant production history: kept indefinitely to provide year-on-year comparison and warranty support.
  • Login & audit logs: retained for up to 24 months.
  • Deleted accounts: personal identifiers removed from active systems within 30 days of confirmed deletion. Aggregated, anonymised plant data may be retained.

8. Your Rights

  • Access the data we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information through your profile or by contacting support.
  • Delete your account — visit indexinformatics.in/account_deletion.php. We verify by OTP and remove your personal data within 30 days.
  • Export your plant production data on request.
  • Lodge a complaint with the relevant data-protection authority.

9. Cookies & Local Storage

The Index Cloud web dashboard uses essential cookies and browser local-storage to keep you signed in and remember your preferences (theme, last-viewed plant). We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

10. Children's Privacy

Index Cloud is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy. Material changes will be announced in the app or via email. The "Effective" date at the top reflects the latest revision.
